For watchmakers servicing mechanical movements and jewellers handling delicate components, these 5AR-Ti tweezers offer essential control. The solid titanium construction is completely anti-magnetic, eliminating any risk of interference whilst working on sensitive parts like balance wheels or hairsprings.

Key features

  • Solid titanium construction is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and fully anti-magnetic.
  • Fine, sharply bent tips offer excellent visibility and access for intricate work.
  • Matte blue anodised finish reduces glare and eye strain under bench lighting.
  • Wide, flat body provides a stable and controlled grip for delicate tasks.
  • Precision-ground points ensure a secure hold on the smallest components.

Who it's for

Primarily for professional watchmakers who need to handle hairsprings, balance wheels, and other calibre parts without magnetising them. Also suited for bench jewellers, electronics technicians, and lab workers handling delicate, non-ferrous components.

Common questions at the bench

Will heat damage these tweezers?
Stainless steel cross-lock and standard tweezers handle bench-torch heat (1500 °C+) on the working tips repeatedly without damage — the steel just discolours. Titanium-tip soldering picks specifically will not bond to silver or gold solder, which standard steel will after enough use.
Cross-lock or reverse-action — which one?
Cross-lock (self-locking on close) grips your work without finger pressure — best for holding a piece for soldering. Reverse-action (locks open, releases on squeeze) holds a piece in position when you want to walk away. Most benches end up owning both.
What is the third-hand base for?
A heavy base with one or two cross-lock arms keeps your work stable while you set up solder pallions or apply heat. Frees both your hands for the torch and pick. The heavier the base, the steadier the work — aim for 1 kg+ for medium bench-torch work.
Can I solder on a ceramic board?
Yes — ceramic boards reflect heat back into the work and do not pit the way old fire-bricks do. For sterling work, a charcoal block underneath gives a reducing atmosphere that helps prevent firescale.
