Our commitment
Jewellery Tools (a trading style of Toolsmith Ltd) is committed to making jewellerytools.co.uk usable by the widest possible audience, including disabled users, users on assistive technologies, and users in low-bandwidth or low-light conditions. We design and develop against the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard, with parts of the site targeted at Level AAA where typography, contrast, and motion are concerned.
What we do
- Every meaningful image carries a descriptive
altattribute, written by a human (not auto-generated). - Text colour contrast meets or exceeds 4.5:1 against background on body copy; 3:1 on large headings.
- All interactive elements are reachable by keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring.
- The site respects
prefers-reduced-motionfor users who disable animations at the OS level. - Heading order is sequential (h1 → h2 → h3) on every template, so screen readers can build a correct outline.
- Forms have programmatically linked labels, error messages tied to the field, and clear required-state indicators.
- Video and motion content is paused by default; no auto-playing audio.
- Skip-to-content link is the first focusable element on every page.
- JSON-LD structured data is provided so assistive search experiences (e.g. Google Assistant, smart-home devices) can read product information aloud.
Known limitations
We are actively working on the following:
- Some legacy product photography (pre-2026) was migrated from a previous catalogue and may have less-descriptive alt text. We are re-writing alt text in batches.
- A small number of third-party scripts (Shopify checkout, Klaviyo email capture) are outside our direct control. We monitor their accessibility and request fixes where issues are found.
- Live chat is not yet available; we use email and phone instead, which we believe offers a comparable level of access.
Reporting an accessibility issue
If you encounter content or functionality that is hard to use, we want to know. Please email info@toolsmithltd.co.uk with the URL and a description of what went wrong. We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within two working days, and to fix or workaround the underlying issue within thirty days. If a fix needs longer, we'll write back with an estimate.
If you need any of our policies, product specifications, or order information in an alternative format (large print, plain text, audio), please email or call us on +44 20 8059 4504 and we will arrange it at no charge.
