Securely grip and precisely place the smallest jewellery components with these nipper-style tweezers.

What it does

These 4.5-inch tweezers feature double-honed, needle-sharp tips for accurate contact with minuscule items. The nipper-style mechanism provides a positive, controlled closing action, allowing you to hold delicate parts like tiny settings or watch hands firmly without excessive pressure. Constructed from robust stainless steel, their precisely ground jaws ensure consistent performance during intricate assembly and repair tasks.

How to use it

  • Grip the handles to engage the jaws.
  • Position the fine tips around your component.
  • Gently release the handles to secure the part.

Who it's for

Essential for UK bench jewellers, watchmakers, and electronic technicians working with tiny components. These tweezers are ideal for picking up small gemstones, placing watch hands, or manipulating surface-mount devices. They offer a significant upgrade over standard fine-tip tweezers for any intricate bench work.

Common questions at the bench

Will heat damage these tweezers?
Stainless steel cross-lock and standard tweezers handle bench-torch heat (1500 °C+) on the working tips repeatedly without damage — the steel just discolours. Titanium-tip soldering picks specifically will not bond to silver or gold solder, which standard steel will after enough use.
Cross-lock or reverse-action — which one?
Cross-lock (self-locking on close) grips your work without finger pressure — best for holding a piece for soldering. Reverse-action (locks open, releases on squeeze) holds a piece in position when you want to walk away. Most benches end up owning both.
What is the third-hand base for?
A heavy base with one or two cross-lock arms keeps your work stable while you set up solder pallions or apply heat. Frees both your hands for the torch and pick. The heavier the base, the steadier the work — aim for 1 kg+ for medium bench-torch work.
Can I solder on a ceramic board?
Yes — ceramic boards reflect heat back into the work and do not pit the way old fire-bricks do. For sterling work, a charcoal block underneath gives a reducing atmosphere that helps prevent firescale.
