This set provides four distinct bench anvils for shaping and forming sheet metal and wire. The collection includes a flat anvil for general planishing and three domed anvils (low, medium, high) for creating curved forms, allowing for a wide range of metalwork from a single kit.

Each anvil head is machined from solid steel and polished to a smooth finish, which helps prevent transferring tool marks to your workpiece. The heads are securely mounted into individual, weighted rosewood bases that provide stability on the bench and absorb impact during hammering.

Use this set for tasks such as doming silver discs for pendants, forming curved components for bracelets, or planishing small copper and brass pieces. The compact size makes them suitable for smaller workshop benches.

  • Includes four profiles: one flat, one low-dome, one medium-dome, and one high-dome.
  • Anvil heads are machined from steel with a highly polished, non-marring surface.
  • Each anvil is mounted on a stable, polished rosewood base for benchtop use.
  • All anvils share a common 70 mm (2.75-inch) base diameter for a consistent footprint.
  • Designed for shaping, forming, and planishing non-ferrous metals in jewellery work.

Common questions at the bench

What weight hammer should I start with?
For most bench work, 4–8 oz is the sweet spot. Lighter hammers (2–4 oz) suit fine detail and chasing punches; 6–8 oz suits forging and texture work. Avoid anything over 12 oz unless you specifically need a raising hammer.
Can I use this on annealed silver and copper?
Yes — these hammers are designed for non-ferrous metals: silver (sterling, fine, britannia), copper, brass, bronze, and aluminium. The polished face will not transfer marks to clean annealed stock when used correctly. For mild steel work, use a separate hammer.
How should I care for it?
Wipe the face down after each session to prevent any tarnish from work residue marking your next piece. If the head develops nicks, polish them out with fine-grit emery and a buffing mop — a marked hammer face transfers marks to your work.
What is in the box?
One hammer with the head and handle fitted, ready for the bench. Polished faces are protected with a thin oil film — wipe before first use.
