For jewellers and silversmiths forming anticlastic curves in sheet metal. These pliers create the correct saddle-curve geometry reliably, supporting both faces of the metal strip to prevent uneven distortion whilst forming rings, bangles, and other curved components from UK-stocked non-ferrous metals.

Key features

  • One concave channel jaw and one convex bar jaw form consistent anticlastic curves.
  • The 7/16-inch channel is sized for common ring and bangle stock widths.
  • Durable stainless steel construction withstands repeated workshop use.
  • Box-joint pivot ensures jaws remain parallel and aligned under pressure.
  • Blue, textured vinyl-dipped handles provide a comfortable and secure grip.

Who it's for

An essential forming tool for UK bench jewellers, silversmiths, and contemporary jewellery students. Also suitable for coppersmiths and craftspeople creating small-scale sculptural forms in non-ferrous metal strip.

Common questions at the bench

Will these mark soft silver wire?
Our flat-, snipe-, and round-nose pliers have polished interior jaws — they will not mark cleanly annealed precious-metal wire when used with normal grip pressure. For absolutely no-mark work on finished pieces, wrap the jaws with masking tape or nylon-jaw covers (sold separately).
Can these cut hardened wire?
Tungsten-carbide-tipped cutters in this collection handle hardened steel up to spring temper. Standard side cutters are for non-ferrous (silver, gold, copper, brass) up to half-hard. Check the product spec for the cutting capacity.
What is the difference between parallel and standard pliers?
Standard pliers pivot on a single point — the jaws scissor open and grip strongest at the tip. Parallel-action pliers stay perfectly parallel through the full opening, giving equal grip pressure across the whole jaw face. Parallel models are higher-precision (better for wire-wrapping and dead-soft annealed wire) but cost more.
Do they come spring-loaded?
Most of our bench pliers ship spring-loaded for one-handed operation. Where the spring is removable, the product description notes it. Spring tension is set for all-day comfort, not maximum grip.
