Split rings punish fingernails and improvised openers alike. The hooked jaw on these tweezers slips between the coils and parts them cleanly, while the straight, pointed jaw holds position on the ring — so clasps and charms go on without distorting the coil. A small tool that earns its slot in any repair kit.

They are stainless steel with a satin, non-glare finish for workshop use. The flat-profile body sits comfortably and securely in the hand, and the 115mm length gives enough leverage to open even tightly wound rings.

  • Features one hooked jaw designed to separate split ring coils without slipping.
  • The opposing jaw is straight and pointed for stable positioning on the ring.
  • Constructed from stainless steel with a non-glare satin finish for workshop durability.
  • The 115mm overall length provides the necessary leverage for opening stubborn rings.
  • Flat-profile body offers a comfortable and secure grip during delicate operations.

Who it's for

Common questions at the bench

Will heat damage these tweezers?
Stainless steel cross-lock and standard tweezers handle bench-torch heat (1500 °C+) on the working tips repeatedly without damage — the steel just discolours. Titanium-tip soldering picks specifically will not bond to silver or gold solder, which standard steel will after enough use.
Cross-lock or reverse-action — which one?
Cross-lock (self-locking on close) grips your work without finger pressure — best for holding a piece for soldering. Reverse-action (locks open, releases on squeeze) holds a piece in position when you want to walk away. Most benches end up owning both.
What is the third-hand base for?
A heavy base with one or two cross-lock arms keeps your work stable while you set up solder pallions or apply heat. Frees both your hands for the torch and pick. The heavier the base, the steadier the work — aim for 1 kg+ for medium bench-torch work.
Can I solder on a ceramic board?
Yes — ceramic boards reflect heat back into the work and do not pit the way old fire-bricks do. For sterling work, a charcoal block underneath gives a reducing atmosphere that helps prevent firescale.
