Sawing bone-shaped tags by hand means tracing, piercing and filing every single blank. This set replaces all of that with one hammer strike: drop silver, copper or brass sheet into the die block, seat a punch, and a clean-edged bone blank falls out — the same profile every time, which is what a production run of pet tags or charms actually needs.

The seven punches step up in graduated sizes, from small charm blanks to full-sized tags, and both punches and die block are hardened steel for a long working life on non-ferrous sheet. A time-saver for engravers and jewellers doing personalised tag work, and for anyone cutting matched bone-shaped components in quantity.

  • Includes seven punches in graduated sizes for small charms through to full-sized tags.
  • Hardened steel construction produces clean-edged blanks with a single hammer strike.
  • Suitable for cutting non-ferrous sheet metals, including silver, copper, and brass.
  • Eliminates manual sawing, ensuring consistent profiles for production runs.

Who it's for

Primarily for UK jewellers and engravers who specialise in creating personalised pet tags and charms. Also suited for craftspeople and metalsmiths needing to produce multiple bone-shaped components for larger jewellery or decorative projects.

Common questions at the bench

What metal and thickness can it cut?
Check this product's description for the metals and any maximum thickness it gives, and stay within them. If it gives none, keep to thin, soft, non-ferrous sheet. Cutting sheet that is harder or thicker than the cutter is made for can chip or blunt the punches and the die.
How do I cut a clean blank?
Stand the cutter on a solid, flat surface such as a steel bench block and check the sheet lies flat where it should. Set the punch with its cutting end to the metal and strike it squarely and firmly with a hammer, or a mallet with a hard face; a nylon, wooden or rubber face can be dented by the punch. One firm, square blow gives a cleaner edge than several light or glancing ones.
Will the blank need finishing?
Check each blank. Smooth any burr or sharp edge with a file or fine abrasive paper before the piece is worn or finished, and if a blank has bowed slightly in the cut, flatten it with a mallet on a bench block.
How should I look after it?
Use it only on the sheet it is made for, wipe the punches and die clean after use and store them dry, with the cutting edges kept from knocking against other tools. If a punch sticks, tap it back out straight rather than levering or twisting it.
