Opening a split ring with a thumbnail is a habit worth breaking. The tooth ground into the jaw tip of these pliers levers split rings and jump rings apart cleanly, while the long, straight nose reaches into assemblies with a clear line of sight — handy for fitting findings, closing links and general repair work at the bench.

Stainless steel construction shrugs off moisture and resists corrosion, and the soft black grips take the pressure out of repeated use. A lanyard ring on one handle lets you tether the tool or hang it within reach. At 14 cm it is compact enough for fine work but long enough for leverage.

  • Jaw tip features a purpose-made tooth for easily opening split rings and jump rings.
  • Long, straight jaws provide extended reach and a clear line of sight for intricate work.
  • Constructed from stainless steel for durability and resistance to corrosion.
  • Ergonomic, soft-grip handles in black reduce hand fatigue during prolonged use.
  • Fitted with a lanyard ring on one handle for secure storage or tethering.

Common questions at the bench

How do I open a split ring?
Slip the tip of the pliers between the first two coils of the ring to open a gap and hold it there. Feed on the chain, key or charm, then turn the ring round until it sits fully on the coil and release.
Will these mark the ring?
Any jaw can mark soft metal or a polished finish if you grip too hard or the jaws are dirty, and serrated or textured jaws mark more easily than smooth ones. Use the lightest grip that holds the piece and keep the jaws clean; on finished or plated work, cover metal jaws with masking tape or use nylon-jawed pliers.
How should I look after them?
Wipe them clean after use, keep them dry and store them so the jaws do not knock against other tools. Keep the moving parts free of grit and filings so the action stays smooth, and do not use them as a hammer or a lever.
