Achieve precise, perpendicular strikes on metal or leather with this solid hardwood stamp holder, designed for consistent marking.

What it does

This block securely grips your metal stamp, guiding your hammer for a perfectly vertical impact. Its precisely machined dual-profile slot accepts both round and square shank stamps, ensuring a snug fit. The dense hardwood construction effectively absorbs hammer shock, minimising vibration for cleaner impressions and a more comfortable user experience. This stability is key to achieving crisp, repeatable marks on your workpieces, every time.

How to use it

  • Insert your stamp firmly into the appropriate slot.
  • Position the block over your workpiece.
  • Strike the stamp squarely with a hammer.

Who it's for

An essential bench companion for UK jewellers, silversmiths, and bladesmiths needing consistent maker's marks. It's also invaluable for leatherworkers and hobbyists seeking reliable, repeatable stamping on their projects, replacing the need for freehand striking.

Common questions at the bench

What does it do?
It holds a stamp or punch upright and steady while you strike it, so the hand holding it stays clear of the hammer.
Will my stamps fit?
Check what this product's description says it holds against your stamps. A stamp that is loose in it can tilt or twist as you strike and blur the mark.
How do I use it?
Fit the stamp firmly, place its face flat on the work where you want the mark, hold the tool steady and strike the top of the stamp once, firmly and squarely. Check the stamp is still held firmly before each strike.
