Hand-drilling a pilot hole in a finished piece calls for finger-tip control a rotary tool cannot give. This pin vise holds micro-drills, pins, reamers and fine wire securely while you turn it by hand — and because it carries a collet at each end, 0–1mm on one and 1.5–2.5mm on the other, you cover the common small-shank range without reaching for a second tool.

Cross-hatch knurling on the chucks and a reeded body give a positive grip as you rotate the vise between finger and thumb. Construction is all-metal throughout, and at 4.5 inches overall it manoeuvres easily in close, detailed work — suited to jewellers, horologists and modelmakers alike.

  • Features two independent collets: 0–1mm on one end and 1.5–2.5mm on the other.
  • Cross-hatch knurled chucks and a reeded body provide positive grip for finger-tip control.
  • All-metal construction for durability in a workshop environment.
  • Compact 4.5-inch (approx. 114mm) length for manoeuvrability in detailed work.
  • Securely holds round-shank drill bits, pins, reamers, and fine wire.

Who it's for

Common questions at the bench

Is this safe to use on a vintage watch?
Our case holders, spring-bar tools, and movement holders are designed for vintage and modern watch handling. Soft-jaw inserts protect plated bezels. For one-piece sapphire crystals and brittle dials, slow down and check the description for material limits.
What screwdriver size fits my watch?
Most modern watch movements use 1.0–1.6 mm screwdriver tips. Vintage Swiss often runs 0.8–1.2 mm. Our screwdriver sets cover 0.5–3.0 mm in 0.1 mm increments — you will use 4–6 sizes regularly. Hollow-ground tips grip the screw slot without slipping.
Why do I need a demagnetiser?
Modern phones, magnetic clasps, and stray fields from speakers magnetise watch movements, causing time-keeping drift. A 30-second pass through a demagnetiser fixes most cases. A £20 desk demagnetiser pays for itself within the first time you would otherwise pay a watchmaker to diagnose it.
Can I work on a Rolex or other high-end piece?
These tools are bench-grade and suitable for hobbyist and professional watch repair. For warranty-affecting work on serial-tracked luxury watches, always check whether intervention voids your warranty before opening. We cannot verify what is appropriate for every brand.
