A batch of tree charms for the November fairs is a long week of piercing — or an afternoon with this set. Four hardened steel punches shear identical Christmas tree blanks from non-ferrous sheet in four sizes, ready for stamping, texturing or a pass of doming. Because every blank matches the last, seasonal production stays consistent from the first pendant to the final charm.

The punches run in a solid steel die block held square by two hex-socket bolts, which keeps the shearing faces aligned strike after strike. Store the punches in their block between sessions and keep them lightly oiled so the cutting edges stay crisp.

  • Includes four distinct Christmas tree profiles for a range of pendant and charm sizes.
  • Punches are machined from hardened steel to shear clean blanks from non-ferrous sheet.
  • The solid steel die block is secured with two hex-socket bolts for stability during use.
  • Produces repeatable, uniform shapes, removing the need for piercing or sawing individual pieces.

Who it's for

Primarily for bench jewellers and craft makers in the UK who create seasonal jewellery ranges. Also suitable for metal artists and hobbyists requiring multiple, consistent decorative shapes for festive projects without laborious hand-sawing.

Common questions at the bench

What metal and thickness can it cut?
Only the non-ferrous sheet metal this product's description names, and no thicker than any gauge or thickness it gives. Do not cut steel or any other ferrous metal: sheet that is harder or thicker than the cutter is made for can chip or blunt the punches and the die.
How do I cut a clean blank?
Anneal (soften) the sheet and put a little cutting lubricant on the punch. Stand the die block on a solid, flat surface, set the sheet in it and seat the punch with its cutting end to the metal. Strike the top of the punch squarely and firmly, with the hammer or mallet this product's description suggests if it names one; one firm, square blow gives a cleaner edge than several light or glancing ones.
Will the blank need finishing?
Check each blank. Smooth any burr or sharp edge with a file or fine abrasive paper before the piece is worn or finished, and if a blank has bowed slightly in the cut, flatten it with a mallet on a bench block.
How should I look after it?
Use it only on the sheet it is made for. Wipe the punches and die block clean after use, oil them lightly and store them dry, with the cutting edges kept from knocking against other tools. If a punch sticks, tap it back out straight rather than levering or twisting it.
