Batch work exposes wobbly hand-cutting quickly. This set punches heart blanks at five fixed sizes — 8, 11, 14, 17 and 20mm — from non-ferrous sheet up to 18-gauge, so every charm or pendant in a run matches the last. It is considerably quicker than piercing each outline with a jeweller's saw.

The punches are tempered high-carbon tool steel, and the 3-inch square die block gives them a stable, aligned platform to cut against. Between jobs the whole 1.2kg set sits in its wooden base, each punch in its own milled recess.

  • Punches five distinct heart shapes in sizes 8mm, 11mm, 14mm, 17mm, and 20mm.
  • Manufactured from tempered high-carbon tool steel for durable cutting edges.
  • Cuts non-ferrous metals such as silver, gold, and copper up to 18-gauge.
  • The 3-inch square steel die block provides a stable cutting platform.
  • Supplied with a wooden base featuring milled recesses for organised benchtop storage.

Common questions at the bench

What metal and thickness can it cut?
Check this product's description for the metals and any maximum thickness it gives, and stay within them. If it gives none, keep to thin, soft, non-ferrous sheet. Cutting sheet that is harder or thicker than the cutter is made for can chip or blunt the punches and the die.
How do I cut a clean blank?
Stand the cutter on a solid, flat surface such as a steel bench block and check the sheet lies flat where it should. Set the punch with its cutting end to the metal and strike it squarely and firmly with a hammer, or a mallet with a hard face; a nylon, wooden or rubber face can be dented by the punch. One firm, square blow gives a cleaner edge than several light or glancing ones.
Will the blank need finishing?
Check each blank. Smooth any burr or sharp edge with a file or fine abrasive paper before the piece is worn or finished, and if a blank has bowed slightly in the cut, flatten it with a mallet on a bench block.
How should I look after it?
Use it only on the sheet it is made for, wipe the punches and die clean after use and store them dry, with the cutting edges kept from knocking against other tools. If a punch sticks, tap it back out straight rather than levering or twisting it.
