Curving a polished ring shank or bangle with steel jaws means refinishing afterwards; the nylon faces on these pliers move the metal and leave the polish alone. One jaw is concave, the other convex, so wire and strip form into smooth, even curves rather than a string of flats — the usual route to a clean shank ready to true on a ring mandrel.

The steel body is box-jointed, keeping the jaws aligned under proper pressure, and a double-leaf spring opens them again between bends. Blue PVC-coated handles give a settled grip. When the nylon faces eventually scar from use, they have done their job protecting your work.

  • One concave and one convex nylon jaw for forming uniform curves in wire and strip.
  • Non-marring nylon faces protect polished silver, gold, and other precious metals from scratches.
  • Durable box-joint steel construction ensures jaw alignment under pressure.
  • A double-leaf spring returns the jaws to the open position to reduce hand fatigue.
  • Blue PVC-coated handles provide a comfortable, secure grip during use.

Common questions at the bench

How do I get an even curve?
Work along the piece in small steps, moving the pliers a little at a time and closing them gently, rather than forcing the whole curve in one place. Check the shape often against your mandrel, template or the piece it has to fit.
Will these give me an exact ring or bangle size?
No. They shape the curve; check the size on a ring or bracelet mandrel, or with a ring sizer, and true up the shape on a mandrel before you join or finish the piece.
What thickness of metal can I bend?
If this product's description gives a size or thickness, stay within it. Annealed (softened) metal bends more evenly and with less force than work-hardened stock, and is less likely to crack or kink.
Will these mark my work?
Any jaw can mark soft metal or a polished finish if you grip too hard or the jaws are dirty, and serrated or textured jaws mark more easily than smooth ones. Use the lightest grip that holds the piece and keep the jaws clean; on finished or plated work, cover metal jaws with masking tape or use nylon-jawed pliers.
