Collet Block & Punch Set — 10 Hole 28 Degree Plate, 4–18mm, Black Carbon Steel

Form and true conical collets and bezels with this 28-degree, 10-hole collet block and punch set. Designed for shaping collet settings in silver, gold and other non-ferrous sheet at the bench.

What it does

This collet block has ten holes tapered to a 28-degree angle and comes with a steel punch that has a conical tip. Drop a soldered cone blank or a short length of tube into the hole it fits, then tap the punch down inside it to form or true the collet to the block's taper. Moving through the sizes lets you stretch or shrink a collet gradually, so a batch of settings comes out with the same 28-degree taper. Its solid carbon steel construction provides a stable platform for accurate work.

How to use it

• Choose the hole your cone blank or tube section sits part-way down.
• Seat the blank in the hole and place the punch tip inside it.
• Tap the punch with a hammer to form the collet to the 28-degree taper; anneal and work gradually.
