Diamond blanks in four sizes — 28.92 × 25.61 mm, 24.79 × 21.95 mm, 20.66 × 18.20 mm and 13.53 × 14.00 mm — sheared from sheet one strike at a time. Cut them as pendants, charms and earring components, as inlay pieces for mixed-media work, or as uniform bases for stamping and enamelling.

Die block and punches are hardened carbon tool steel; the compact 76 × 76 mm block tucks onto a crowded bench without giving up stability. Punches are ground sharp at the business end and bevelled for the mallet at the other. Brass or nylon mallet, non-ferrous sheet to 18 gauge (1.02 mm), a drop of cutting lubricant — that is the whole routine.
