Secure your watch case with this rosewood block, designed for precise movement servicing and battery changes at the workbench.

What it does

This dual-part clamp offers a firm yet gentle hold for watch cases, preventing scratches on polished surfaces during intricate repair work. The precisely machined jaws feature a central recess and cutouts that accommodate various case lug designs. A smooth-operating steel thumbscrew drives the parallel clamping action, ensuring consistent pressure. Its solid rosewood construction absorbs vibrations and provides excellent grip without marring delicate finishes.

How to use it

  • Position the watch case within the stepped recess.
  • Gently tighten the thumbscrew for a secure, non-damaging grip.
  • Hold in a larger vise via the side-drilled hole for stability.

Who it's for

An essential tool for professional watchmakers and horologists undertaking detailed movement repairs or case restorations. It's also ideal for experienced jewellery makers and dedicated hobbyists who require a stable platform for fine watch work, replacing less secure methods.

Common questions at the bench

Is this safe to use on a vintage watch?
Our case holders, spring-bar tools, and movement holders are designed for vintage and modern watch handling. Soft-jaw inserts protect plated bezels. For one-piece sapphire crystals and brittle dials, slow down and check the description for material limits.
What screwdriver size fits my watch?
Most modern watch movements use 1.0–1.6 mm screwdriver tips. Vintage Swiss often runs 0.8–1.2 mm. Our screwdriver sets cover 0.5–3.0 mm in 0.1 mm increments — you will use 4–6 sizes regularly. Hollow-ground tips grip the screw slot without slipping.
Why do I need a demagnetiser?
Modern phones, magnetic clasps, and stray fields from speakers magnetise watch movements, causing time-keeping drift. A 30-second pass through a demagnetiser fixes most cases. A £20 desk demagnetiser pays for itself within the first time you would otherwise pay a watchmaker to diagnose it.
Can I work on a Rolex or other high-end piece?
These tools are bench-grade and suitable for hobbyist and professional watch repair. For warranty-affecting work on serial-tracked luxury watches, always check whether intervention voids your warranty before opening. We cannot verify what is appropriate for every brand.
