Lay annealed non-ferrous sheet up to 18 gauge (1.02 mm) over the die, drop in one of the four punches and strike it squarely with a well-chosen hammer or mallet; the blank shears free the same shape every time, across sizes from 11 to 24 mm.

Punches and die block are hardened and tempered high-carbon tool steel, ground to hold a sharp shearing edge. A touch of lubricant such as Bur-Life before each cut, and properly annealed metal, will keep those edges crisp far longer — small habits that pay for themselves over a production run.
